One in 10 Parents Delays Kids’ Vaccines
According to a US survey, more than 10 percent of parents alter the vaccination schedule recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention by delaying or refusing certain vaccines for their young children. About two percent of US parents refuse to have their children vaccinated at all. Despite a lack of evidence regarding the safety or effectiveness of delaying or eliminating certain vaccines in young children, many parents who elect to do so cite safety concerns. Public health officials, meanwhile, are worried about the risk of illness in unvaccinated children and the possibility of outbreaks among this population. Discuss
